Leather in the car is mainly used for car seat surface, armrest surface, etc., some high-grade car dashboard outer surface, steering wheel, compartment interior wall, etc., will also be covered with leather, in a way, the amount of leather is also a symbol of the vehicle grade and degree of luxury.

Genuine leather is, needless to say, the topmost layer of skin on various animals, conceptually opposed to artificial leather made using chemical fibre materials. There are many different types of leather, with varying qualities and prices. In addition to the original skin, there is the first layer of skin and two layers of skin – thicker animal skins are cut into two layers, by the coating or film treatment, the upper layer that is the first layer of skin, the lower layer of the second layer of skin.

PVC leather, PU leather, microfibre PU leather are all man-made leather, which is an industrial product produced by coating different fibre fabrics with different coating materials.

PVC leather uses knitted fabric as the base cloth, and the PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) material, which is hot-melted into paste, is evenly coated on it according to a certain thickness, and then it goes into the foaming furnace for foaming, so as to make it have the softness to adapt to the production of a variety of different products and different requirements, and then it is subjected to surface treatment, such as dyeing, embossing, buffing, matte, and surface-finishing furring, etc., when it is taken out of the furnace.

The base cloth of PU leather is usually knitted cloth with better tensile strength, canvas, non-woven cloth, etc. In the hot melt coating process with PU (polyurethane) as the material, in addition to being coated on the top of the base cloth, it can also be coated on both sides, so that the base cloth is completely included in the middle, and the appearance of the base cloth cannot be seen at all. The surface treatment process is basically the same as above.

Microfibre PU leather is made from a microfibre non-woven fabric with a three-dimensional structure as the base cloth, which is then coated or laminated with one or more layers of high-performance polyurethane. Microfibre leather in the strength, abrasion resistance, aging resistance, moisture absorption, comfort and other aspects of the performance indicators are better than ordinary PU leather, and microfibre PU leather is more like leather, more durable, feel better.

Tumbled fur also called anti-fur, in fact, is the back of the leather, plush, not smooth, usually two sides processed for plush surface. Tumbled leather is mostly used in personalised luxury cars and sporty sports cars, it is breathable and very comfortable, the disadvantage is that it is not resistant to dirt and poor maintenance.

In the car interior, PVC leather feel harder, comfort and aging resistance is also poor, has been gradually eliminated, replaced by a softer feel, more durable PU leather, is now more widely used. In the middle and high-end models, microfibre PU leather is now popular car seats and interior fabrics, because of its physical properties and feel closest to leather, but also more economical and durable, and therefore welcomed by the market, and the development prospects are very broad, the market share will be higher and higher.
